New Drawing Finally Finished

After many hours (and I mean many) of work and frustration with this drawing I finally put the pencil to rest. I am very happy and pleased with this one although when sketching it out I ran into many problems and had to re-size a lot of things over and over. But it's finished and going to the framers. Boots and Roses

Got a call from the Mayor of Tyler TX and they picked me to come up with a piece of artwork as a gift for (their sister city) the Mayor of San Miguel Mexico. I couldn't think for the life of me what to choose as I didn't have much around the house but I did have a pair of old lesther boots I had done a few years back. So, I decided to add a reddish pink rose as Tyler is well known for their roses. I put the rose in the boot (in colored pencil) and it was quite lovely and made an impact.
She LOVED it and coincidently the boots were Sancho boots made in Spain! How perfect........anyway I got to see the presentation and I was very honored to have my boots in the mayor's house for her to enjoy.

This is something I have been working on lately and I have been wanting to do this for years and I finally think I have enough information under my belt to give it a try. This is still a work in progress as the ear, neck, hand and back of the head are not finished. It's still in it's block in stage and more work  on the jaw where shadows elude me......but I'm getting it. oil on claessens, baltic birch 11x14
