I am almost at the end of this journey and although it's been a challenge I have enjoyed every step of what I have learned. I wish you could see all the little vingnettes in this huge painting and the story that it tells and the legends of thecampus. There a few little secrets in this painting that the client will not know about until he searches for them.......I know... sneaky

FINALLY finished the Evans Hall building and worked on the statue in front of it which isn't quite completed but it will be in a few hours. The rest should go much faster now that the bulk of the painting is complete. Pray I get this done by the 29th.......yea, this month!

Not sure if I posted this one before but this little beauty went to the Louisiana State Archives Building for their show in Baton Rouge LA. This is probably the largest drawing I have ever done. The actual drawing itself (not the paper) is 22x30 and framed ....well it's huge. I am praying that she wins something as I put in over 100 hours on it and a lot of love. Cross your fingers!

New commission....

It has been quite a while since I have posted and it's been a really crazy time and very busy for me. I have been working on commissions and getting through with teaching at the college. I did finish a landscape painting size 4 ft. x6 ft. and trying to finish up a collage a bit larger. Hopefully I can start painting daily on my own small works after this is done, which is my goal and gear up for 2012. WOW! The holidays are creeping up fast and I still don't have all the things done that I wanted to accomplish but hey ! what are deadlines for? They keep me moving.......started palette knife painting and I love it. stil blocking in quite a bit but here is one of the two that I am working on. collage of OU campus

Qiang Quang & Quang Ho
Insight Gallery Show and Demo with Scott Christensen & Quang Ho in Fredricksburg, TX. I had a lifetime experience getting to meet and talk with Master landscape painter Scott Christensen and another Master painter Quang Ho. Wow...I was blown away with their work and had only seen it through the internet but to see it up close was just amazing. Quang Ho was the one person who got me started in oil painting through his DVD instruction. That one made sense to me and it started to "click" in my brain. To see their paintings in person and see the brushwork was breathtaking and like Quang said about Scott's demo piece was "like watching pure poetry" and it's true. Had a wonderful time with my good friend Anne Nelson Sweat and meeting other great artists I had only heard about. I felt so small.....like a 3rd grader. Something to aspire to I guess but what a ride it will be! Here are a few pics.....

9x12 framed $625
Texas Wind or Ruffled Blue? I love this painting and the way it moves. Blue is one of my favorites colors and anytime I see something with blue in it I want to paint it. Maybe it's the water element in me.

LARGE painting commish

Morning Flight oil on canvas
Here is the top portion of one of the paintings I am doing for a client. There are 4 in all. This one is 48x60! Yikes.....I am still blocking in clouds and letting them dry for a day or two. Will be working on the landscape later today

First Blog Post

Natalie
well I took the dive and jumped off the cliff and started my own BLOG!! I have had it started for over a year now and never published it. wow...I hope I can keep up with painting daily. That is the biggest challenge I have ever put on myself. Hopefully I will be diligent and successful. I am working on a LARGE 48x60 painting for a client and it scares the heck out of me. Actually did a drawing yesterday and it felt good to hold a pencil (mechanical) oin my hand again although my neck is killing me. This is one of my students......love this kid.
